I found this place via Facebook and the owner was extremely professional on the phone with scheduling. I then got Senegalese twists that took nearly half the amount of time of any other braiding shop which was great. I then scheduled for my mom to get tree braids the next day which also turned out great and was a professional experience for her as well. We will both be returning in the future!
The owner is nice ..sometines,.but most of the braiders are Unprofessional. I had the crochet style done by a very nice braider. HOWEVER. when I took my daughter to get hers done, the service started with no questions or concerns if the braid pattern was good or anything. Which is important for crochet style. My daughter was not happy with her hair. I took.it out 2 weeks later and vowed never to go back.
Where do I start on this horrible experience. First let me start with the good, they were willing to box braid my hair at 5:30 at night great! But is goes down hill from there, I get to the salon I tell the girl I need my hair washed, she said OK never told me there was a cost to wash my hair or anything. She starts to wash my hair and I smell a very familiar smell but it's not what the bottle says, I know that much for sure but I couldn't pin point the smell at the time she goes to condition my hair and pulls out a small hotel brand conditioner to do my hair WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY, i just so happened to look and see she washed my hair with AJAX dish detergent. I am pissed off at this point. she then tells me they don't have my hair color, the standard hair color 1B and wants to put a color in that like 3 shades darker than my hair color. Then wanted to charge me a extra $20 for the length I wanted which was mid back again hell no. I will not be getting my hair done here. Then had the nerve to tell me it would be $10 since she washed my hair ARE YOU CRAZY you washed my hair with AJAX. I am so pissed right now.
Not the tidiest of places, but most braid shops aren't. Oumy took me as a walk-in, which was cool since it was the day before Christmas eve. They didn't have my hair color, so Oumy took me to the store to get the hair and discounted the price of the service. I was in and out...no bs'ing, no long breaks or leaving to do something else...I was pleased. Some of my twist started coming out, which was expected, giving the length of my hair in those areas...I appreciated the effort to still try and braid the areas. I went back to the shop and they re-braided the areas with no problem or charge. I would go back for service.
Oumy Hair Braiding is a hidden treasure in Burlington City. I have been going to Oumy for two years for my Kinky Twists. Oumy is very professional, and consistently provides excellent customer service. My twists always look great, and I get tons of compliments on her (and her team's) work! And they work fast...she always gets me in and out as promised... Oumy rocks!
For those that want to wear braids for several months and have to return for redo/touch ups, request to have the same stylist that did it the first time. Otherwise, you will be disappointed and will waste your money.
