You'll be hard pressed to find many other true arcades that have stood their ground as Recess Arcade, also winner of Burlington County's BEST by Burlington County Times.
This is one of the saddest malls in existence. Only Sears, a massage place, Bath and Body Works, a jewelry store, and a church are open. All the other stores are shuttered up. There isn't even a food court in operation any more. Meanwhile, security has nothing better to do than to drive laps around the mall. When I go into the mall nowadays, it's only to use the restroom. Even in there, they haven't bothered to maintain some of the urinals and stalls because of such low usage.
This place used to be awesome. I hope someone can restore it to it's former glory.
it was so easy to shop here..we were in and out..no lined or hustle and bustle. great service
If Moonbeam Investments comes to your mall, with a pretty cheap CGI representation of updating your mall, is likely a front. They will likely starve it, let it slowly die the rest of the way, then when they can claim it failed, they'll make the final cut and take the tax cut.
Moonbeam is buying up these malls cheap with the secret agenda it seems. Several across the USA have fallen to the same practices by Moonbeam, right down to their standoff positions with Sears attached and having a wall that blocks off Sears from the mall. They let as many renters decide for themselves to leave as they starve it from additional renters and then those strong enough to hold on either get a BS reason to be kicked out, like Mall Ministry got from a supposed infraction TWO YEARS AGO, or failing that, finally give up finding a reason and just coming out and telling them to leave.
i remember going there when i was 6-8 and it was a good mall. probably 2 stores where shut down at the time but it was normal to me. i went there again when i was 11-12 (last year) and it was so sad. barely anyone was there. i remember seeing the food court and people being there and it’s all closed and the sprint and guitar store. it’s so sad and weird how it all left like 3-4 years
About 2 weeks or so from this posting, maybe less, the arcade is gone, and likely anything other than Sears, who owns their part of the building, will be too.
The arcade remains to the day of this posting and is one if it's last true arcade kind complete with various kinds of games for kids and older users alike. It's one of the few still hosting fighting games and one of the only places in the USA you can play a true Naomi kit MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 for only .25 cents.
Sadly however, days after my posting of the above Moonbeam Investments informed the arcade's owners they're expected to leave as well. It was later learned as well that Moonbeam was intentionally turning away those interested in renting space.
Morton Fox forgot to mention the one good reason to come to the mall. It has the arcade of the area that has held it's ground for 17 years under the watch of one super consistent manager.
Fair the well to the era of true arcades. You held unbelievably fast through the dedication and financial sacrifice of your workers who never gave up till they were legally obligated to leave.
